- Abstract
The article "Bottom-up versus Top-down Resin 3D Printers: The Key Differences" describes the differences, advantages, and disadvantages of bottom-up and top-down printers for the production of models in dental laboratories. Bottom-up printers are compact and portable, while top-down printers are larger. Bottom-up printers require less resin and have lower startup costs, while top-down printers offer a larger build volume. However, bottom-up printers often require more frequent resin refills and have higher maintenance and consumable costs. Top-down printers have a higher initial investment and require larger amounts of resin. Top-down resin 3D printers provide dental laboratories with the ability to print larger models or multiple parts simultaneously, increasing productivity. Recommendations are given for the selection of resins, and the software Chitubox is recommended as a user-friendly option for top-down printing. In summary, top-down resin 3D printers offer dental laboratories more scalable, efficient, and future-proof solutions.
