Outlines a social identity approach to the investigation of group-based reactions to a merger. Evidence which builds up to the prediction that there should be a stronger and more positive relationship between pre-merger identification and post-merger identification; Relationship between pre-merger identification, post-merger identification and ingroup bias; Factor which strengthens the positive relationship between pre-merger identification and identification with the superordinate post-merger group.
