- Abstract
The article presents an overview of an investigation of oral reading miscues made by nonstandard dialect speaking African American children. The methodology of the investigation is discussed. Hypotheses and findings of the differences between standard English and African American dialect forms is presented. The comparison of dialect deviation index between subgroups is analyzed and discussed. The analysis of correlation data is explained.
