- Abstract
Nature-inspired folktales or folk geotales abound in the world's folklore and in Persian folklore in particular, due to thought-provoking natural settings and man's age-old affinity with nature. A folk geotale as a living element of folklore exceeds its role as a mere product of the interplay between nature and culture, reinvigorating the naturality of culture and the culturality of nature. This article provides a case study of an oral geotale, Khal Pirzene, while unfolding the thematic and archetypal layers inherent in the tale and looking at it from the points of view of folklore and geomyth.
