- Abstract
Attribution analysis of runoff change is a fundamental work for river basin regulation and water resources management. Impacts of climate change and human activities on changes in stream flows gauged at Huaxian, Hejin, Zhuangtou, and Longmen hydrometric stations on the Yellow River were investigated by using hydrological simulation approach. Results indicate that the recorded runoff series of the four stations have been presenting obvious phases variation features due to the influence of environment changes, particularly human activities. Recorded runoff after abrupt change years has been decreased by more than 30% relative to that in previous period. VIC model(Variable Infiltration Capacity) performs well for natural discharge simulation, it is therefore qualified to naturalize runoff in human-disturbance period. Human activities play a principal role in runoff reduction for the Yellow River basin, which contributes approximately 70% of total decrease in stream flow. However, climate change contribution tends to decrease in runoff reduction due to the increase in precipitation since the 21st century.
