- Abstract
The Lower Yellow River is the ecological barrier of the Huang-Huai-Hai Plain in China, where the world famous "secondary suspended river" developed. The problem of the floodplains regulation has always been the key and difficult point of management to the Yellow River. The key to regulate the floodplains in the Lower Yellow River lies in stabilizing the main channel, coordinating the relationship between water and sediment, and considering various factors such as ecological development and social stability. Although the former management mode has a certain emphasis on improving the capacity of river flood and sediment transport and improving the flood control safety level of the people in the beach area, there are still many problems, for example, difficult and long period to be implemented, and cannot completely eliminate the influence of " secondary suspended river", and have less consideration in the concept of ecological development. After taking full consideration of the role of the Yellow River water-sediment regulation system to the coordination of downstream water and sediment relations, the model of "flood classification fortification, sediment subarea and sedimentation, free exchange of water and sediment" is presented to carry out the ecological reengineering and control of the floodplains of the Lower Yellow River, and eliminate the effects of “secondary suspended river”, which will ensure the stability of the Lower Yellow River in a certain period of time, and will support for building of eco-economic zone in the Lower Tellow River.
