A female specimen of Mola alexandrini (Ranzani, 1839) was captured off the waters of Hualien, Taiwan on March 2008, representing the third record of this species from Taiwanese waters. To date, this specimen (1380 kg body weight) is the heaviest M. alexandrini on record in Taiwan. Its ovarian weight (117 kg) and gonadosomatic index (8.5) are also the heaviest and highest respectively recorded values for the Mola genus.
