- Abstract
A biography of Mormon Elder John Brush is presented, with focus given to his travels throughout the American West. Brush was born in Erie County, Pennsylvania, in 1815. He served in the Black Hawk War in 1832 and eventually joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Missouri. He was present in Nauvoo, Illinois, during the death of Mormon prophet Joseph Smith, and later helped build the Mormon Church in Southern California.
