- Title
FDG-PETStaging of Head and Neck Cancer—Can Improved Imaging Lead to Improved Treatment?
- Authors
Schwartz, David L.; Macapinlac, Homer A.; Weber, Randal S.
- Abstract
The article examines the effectiveness of an improved F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography (FDG-PET) staging on the treatment of head and neck cancer. It mentions that FDG-PET imaging has gradually become part of the treatment of neck and head cancer, and it has also been touted to provide benefit for up-front locoregional and whole-body staging, as well as, detection of disease response to non-surgical therapy like radiation and chemotherapy.
