- Title
Mark 15:16–32.
- Authors
Brown, Sally A.
- Abstract
The article discusses the Gospel of Mark, Chapter 15, Verses 16 to 32. It considers two potential missteps that preachers will want to rule out at the outset of engaging the text. First, the temptation to conflate Mark's version of the passion of Jesus Christ with accounts in other Gospels. The second misstep would be to filter the scene's reading through a pre-determined atonement theology. Mark's strategy of strategically incorporating messianic titles is mentioned.
