- Title
Grammar in the Student-Centered Composition Class.
- Authors
Oldenburg, Scott
- Abstract
The author discusses the challenge of teaching grammar in the student-centered composition class where instructors find students lacking the ability to consistently form complete sentences or to make pronouns agree with their referents. He mentions the use of his compilation of a list of the twelve most common grammar problems that occur in student writing during teaching. He found that students become more comfortable adding their opinions to discussions after weeks of grammar presentations.
