- Abstract
This article, titled "Editorial Comment on Exploring androgen receptor signaling pathway in prostate cancer: A path to new discoveries," discusses the role of the androgen receptor (AR) in prostate cancer (PCa). The author highlights the revolutionary results from trials in 2004 that showed the superiority of docetaxel treatment over mitoxantrone administration for castration-resistant PCa (CRPC). The introduction of AR signaling inhibitors (ARSI) has changed the treatment pattern for PCa, including CRPC. The article also mentions recent phase 1 results of two novel AR-targeted drugs and ongoing clinical trials for similar agents. The author emphasizes the importance of understanding the biology of AR for urologists.
