- Abstract
This article presents an analysis of the changes in the dynamics of the spatial distribution of Health establishments in the state of Pernambuco, in the years 2007 and 2019. Data from the companies were collected, georeferenced and mapped from the addresses listed in the National Register of Health Establishments (CNES). The results indicated that from 2007 to 2019 there were significant changes in the spatial distribution of private and public health establishments: private units, originally more concentrated than public ones, showed a drop in concentration indicators and started to have a spatial distribution more like public establishments. The estimates also suggest the occurrence of a deconcentration of the more complex health services, a fact that is consistent with the process of interiorization of Higher Education in Health, associated with improvements in the state's transport infrastructure, in addition to the increase in family income in medium and small cities. Thus, the results can help in the formulation and application of public policies aimed at improving access to health and intervene in the improvement of demand and service supply networks. It is essential, in this regard, investments and research that focus on the spatial mobility of consumers and health professionals, as well as on supporting better working conditions for these professionals.
