- Abstract
The article reports on the increasing deployment of geographic information systems (GIS) applications with rugged mobile PCs that connect with wireless communication and positioning devices. During the 2005 ESRI International User Conference, several companies highlighted their rugged mobile computing products. Xplore Technologies unveiled its line of iX104 tablet PCs. Other solutions showcased were Radix Corp.'s FW600, FW900 and FW1000 mobile computers and Topcon's GMS-2 GIS mapping GPS receiver.
