- Abstract
This paper is trying to present a vision of developing touristic areas in Tulcea County, and in particular of managing the touristic resources belonging to Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve (DDBR) - including the investments necessary to highlight its potential. The paper analyses geographical phenomena, local issues of territorial integrity and ecological interferences, and also the factors with positive or negative impact on sustainable development of tourism in Tulcea County which are dependent on investments, level of development, geographical and historical conditions. Sustainable development of Tulcea's tourism county can be achieved only if negative impact of tourism is counterbalanced - and this one, only by using proper economic mechanisms. From this perspective, Danube Delta is a very important touristic region of Romania's, given the unique landscape and biodiversity to be found here. This region can sustain various types of tourism, such as: scientific tourism, outdoor tourism, hunting tourism and fishing tourism. Tourism in this area can and must be organized, therefore, so as to form a base for sustainable development - once included in the economic circuit -, with the short-term goals of boosting overall Romanian GDP, and solving a lot of economical, social and ecological problems in Tulcea County.
