- Authors

- Abstract
This article examines the emergence and growth of Populist Radical Right (PRR) parties in European Parliament (EP) elections. It defines populism as a moral approach to politics that emphasizes the conflict between the "pure people" and the "corrupt elite." The PRR is a specific type of right-wing populism that combines nativism, authoritarianism, and populism. The article provides an overview of the performance of PRR parties in EP elections from 1979 to 2019, highlighting their increasing presence and influence over time. It suggests that the PRR has become a mainstream political force in many countries and is expected to continue expanding its influence in the upcoming 2024 EP elections. The article concludes that the PRR is no longer a fringe concern and is likely to remain politically relevant in the future.
