- Abstract
ISO 14001 certification is an international standard that establishes guidelines for implementing an effective environmental management system in an organization. To obtain this certification, it is necessary that the organization monitors and reports specific environmental indicators to prove compliance with the established environmental goals. The present work evaluated four companies in the agribusiness sector, with the objective of proposing environmental indicators to obtain ISO 14001 certification. For this, a questionnaire was prepared and forwarded to these companies, and based on the answers obtained, the proposal of the indicators was elaborated. All companies answered that they do not have ISO 14001 certification, however, they are aware of the advantages obtained from the certification, indicating which environmental indicators they already had. Therefore, a total of 29 environmental indicators were proposed, including management performance indicators and operational performance indicators, to encourage companies to demonstrate commitment to sustainable practices.
