- Abstract
The main purpose of this study was to explore students' attitudes towards mathematics. A quantitative research approach was used to explore attitudinal factors towards mathematics among nine graders. For this purpose fifty seven public sector secondary schools in Lahore were selected. All students studying in public sector secondary schools were target population of the study. Eleven hundred and eighty six students of grade nine from selected public sector secondary schools in Lahore were carefully chosen. A multistage random sampling technique was used for this purpose. A questionnaire was used for exploration of students' attitudes towards mathematics that was developed by the researcher. Questionnaire was piloted and validated. It was found that participants' attitude towards mathematics significantly vary. The data revealed that students' identify mathematics is useful in daily life and for their careers as well. But they found mathematics complicated and difficult subject. Students prefer mathematics as compare to English and Geography. Similarly, Sets and Algebra were found preferred topics.
