- Abstract
Annette Mbaye d'Erneville, a visionary in the field of communications, wears the title of "Mother of everyone" with aplomb. This portrait draws from a life's work that spans more than seven decades, as recounted in the film Mére-bi / The Mother (2008, Senegal) by her son, Ousmane William Mbaye, as well as parcels from her groundbreaking work as woman activist and pioneer in Senegalese cinema culture, all in service to her country and her continent. She famously said to journalist Boubacar Boris Diop of her beloved Africa: "I always say of this continent that it can have the shape of a heart or a revolver, it depends on how you hold it, how you see it."
