- Abstract
The author reflects on the importance of financial incentives in improving the quality of medical care in England. He relates the development of the Commissioning for Quality and Innovation (CQUIN) by the Department of Health and Social Service which aimed at linking payments to measure patient outcomes. He refers the study conducted by the National Health Service (NHS) which examines the effect of financial incentives on the quality of medical care in the country.
