- Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effects of p38 mitogen activated protein kinase (p38MAPK) on dysosmia of rats wíth Rhinitis and the protective effect of SB203580, the specific inhibitor of p38MAPK, on olfactory mucosa. Methods SD rats were divided randomly into four groups. Rhinitis model of rats was prepared by bacterio-liquid drop and SB203580 was injected intravenously for intervention. Nasal mucosa injury was observed by HE staining ; p38MAPK expresiion was examined by immunohistochemistry method. Results The expresiion of p38MAPK in olfactory mucosa significanlly increased in Rhinitis group compared we that in control group (P = 0.028<0.05). The expresiion of p38MAPK in olfactory mucosa of specific inhibttor group decreased, but did not dUfer significantaly from that of rhinitis group (P = 0.057). Conclusion The p38MAPK signal pathway may be involved in the occurrence and development of Rhinitis and cause olfactory mucosa injury. The specUic inhibttor of p38MAPK may reduce olfactory mucosa injury during the inflammation, which deserves further study.
