- Abstract
There are a lot of writings about hajj and holy places to visit as performing hajj, which is one of the pillars of Islam. This kind of writings involve the descriptions of the road to holy lands, the difficulties during the journey and how to perform the rituals of hajj. These books are mainly known as hajj travel journals. One of the most famous books of this kind is Nabi's Tuhfetü'l-Harameyn. This article examines Nabi's book and Nâtık of Edirne's book of the same kind, which is stated that it was written under the influence of Nabi in the 18th century. In this regard in order to find out the influences of Nabi and the originality of Nâtık these two books are compared with respect to the route to holy lands, the places described and ways of description, narrations and quotes that were mentioned. As Nâtık's travel journal has the same name with Nâbî's well-known Tuhfetü'l-Harameyn, some sources evaluate this book as an imitation of Nâbî's work. However in the book it is hard to find more resemblances other than some influences from some of Nâbî's poems. Also Nâtık's book was written in verses unlike Tuhfetü'l-Harameyn. In the book the style of describing the route and halting places is remarkable. Moreover different narrations, stories, traditions, beliefs and strange events compiled in the book are unique and straightly related to folklore.
