- Abstract
The article focuses on the economic and political conditions of islands of Polynesia including Cook Islands, French Polynesia and Rapa Nui during 2005. The proposal of a special administrative statute for Rapa Nui is the most debated issue in the island. The growth in tourism is promising a wealthy future for the region. The government in Cook Islands is celebrating its success on different fronts. Political and economic life in French Polynesia is characterized by instability and uncertainty.
