- Abstract
The author comments on a paper written by Martin Schell on the importance of considering colingualism in the study of the English language. He says that Schell's paper raises interesting points about language use in so-called Outer and Expanding Circles of world English. The author believes that this is a valuable contribution and that the degree to which colingualism exists is worthy of investigation. However, he comments that Schell's analysis of variables including social, economic and political as used in particular contexts is incomplete.
