- Abstract
This article aims to present reflections, supported by theoretical-philosophical elements, which point to a way of seeing a philosophy of mathematics education from the Wittgensteinian perspective. To do so, we will show the therapeutic character of Wittgenstein's philosophy and the nature of mathematical knowledge from this perspective, pointing out the epistemology of use and its consequences for the pedagogical field. In this way, it is essential that at the outset we present points of the philosophy of language of the Classical and Medieval periods, which allow a better understanding of Wittgenstein's philosophy of language. Subsequently, aspects of a Wittgensteinian perspective of the philosophy of mathematics are explained, briefly discussing the three classical philosophical currents of mathematics (logicism, intuitionism, and formalism) and showing that Wittgenstein differs from them all. Finally, Wittgenstein's philosophical therapy and the epistemology of use are pointed out to clarify confusions of a linguistic nature existing in the scope of mathematics education, resulting from the unilateral uses of the conceptions of traditional philosophical currents that subsidize the nature of mathematical knowledge, such as possibility to advocate in favor of a philosophy of mathematics education from a Wittgensteinian perspective. It appears that, for this, language needs to assume the role of protagonist, so that the knowledge that constitutes the mathematical education is based on a conception of language that goes beyond the referential conception.
