A TIME TO LIVE, A TIME TO DIE: ANGELO CLARENO ON MARTYRDOM.
- Authors
Burr, David
- Abstract
The article focuses on the use by missionary Angelo Clareno of the word martyrdom on his chronicle. It says that Clareno dispenses spiritual advices on how to live the Franciscan way and advocates humility and self righteousness despite in difficult situations. It states that Clareno relates martyrdom as to what happens to Christians at the hands of non-Christians. It relates that Clareno follows the doctrinal theology of Jesus Christ and Saint Francis in emphasizing his views on both obedience and martyrdom. It also discusses the most serious practical problem faced by Clareno in his chronicle, Clareno's death, and Clareno's reading of Franciscan life as a form of eremitical monasticism.
