- Title
From Political Prisoner to Johannesburg Public Library Manager: An Interview with Bongiwe Nkabinde.
- Authors
Poole, Jocelyn
- Abstract
An interview with Bongiwe Nkabinde, manager of Johannesburg Public Library in Johannesburg, South Africa, is presented. Nkabinde recalled the lack of opportunities for Africans to become leaders of libraries because they are intended for the lower positions such as assistant librarians, helpers, janitors and shelvers. The situation clearly reflects racial discrimination throughout the nation. However, her persistence and her educational background helped her become the manager of the library.
