- Title
Uncertain Margins: Métis and Saulteaux Identities in St-Paul des Saulteaux, Red River 1821 - 1870.
- Authors
St-Onge, Nicole
- Abstract
The article presents information on ethnic boundaries between Métis and Saulteaux tribes of Manitoba as revealed by the mission for Saulteaux or Ojibwa Indians, "Saint Paul des Sauteux (sic)," that was organized on the banks of the Assiniboine River in the 1830s. Belonging to different ancestry, these tribes have maintained ethnic differences between them, but living in same geographical region has resulted in the development of some similar cultural elements.
