- Abstract
The working memory is a system that maintains and manipulates the information on a temporary moment and it is involved in important cognitive processes such as language. Within the disorders that affect language, Specific Language Disorder has caused more interest nowadays. For this reason, the objective of this study is compared and correlated the performance of the subcomponents of the working memory between children from 6 to 6 years 11 months affected with TEL and with a normal language development. The test used to evaluate the working memory was Test Illinois de Aptitudes Psicolingüísticas (ITPA) and it was considered 3 of their sub-tests which were related to the subcomponents of the working memory. The results of the study indicated that the group of children with TEL obtained decreased results in the sub-tests related to phonological loop, visual-spatial agenda and central executive, while normal language developing children obtained good results in the three sub-tests.
