- Abstract
The article discusses the presentation of the biographies of the Acadian woman Jeanne Dugas and the African-Canadian innkeeper Marie Marquerite Rose at the Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site. Topics include the role of the group Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada (HSMBC) in creating the biographical descriptions, the relation of biography to public history, and the idea of commemoration in an Acadian context.
