- Abstract
The article focuses on the legal history and legal system of Canada in relation to the execution of the Canadian politician and activist Louis Riel. It states that his mixed identity as a Métis that influenced his life to great extent and informs that under his leadership Manitoba became the sixth province to enter the confederation. It also expands on trial of Riel in relation to politics of the Canada at the time of the Northwest Rebellion in 1985, who was charged with high treason.
