- Abstract
One of the "documents" of contemporary migration is the literary description. The subject of this article is a poetic text which reflects an experience of migration: Neringa Abrutytė's poems in her book Neringos M. The article aims at showing how the experience of life in another country (which the poetess calls "not my own") is reflected in poems. Analysing the autobiographical poems of Abrutytė, I try to follow the modes in which emigration from one country to another is represented and what relation all this has to her own country. This article is based on the hypothesis that the experiences of migration and the process of adaptation or non-adaptation to the new country and new living conditions repre- sents a continuous process of self-identification; her "own" country in Abrutyte's poetry becomes one of the most important supports (objects of value) in this process. Both the motives of the body and the de- monstration of emotional gusts are typical of Abrutyte's poetry. The experience of migration is also expressed through corporeal experience. Accordingly the conception of self-identification is expanded into the traditional "inner I" field including the component of an always present but "silent" body, which in the phenomenological tradition is called the "anonymity of the living body." From the perspective of perception the meeting of the world and the subject transforms itself into states of emotion states. Thus the analysis of poems makes use of the semiotic of passions.
