Architect Who Pioneered Direct-Entry Elevators Says They Are Gaining Popularity.
- Authors
Jackson, Matthew
- Abstract
Direct-entry elevators, which provide residents with vertical access to their apartments without the need for hallways, are gaining popularity in the United States. Architect Joseph Swedroe, who pioneered this concept, believes that the elimination of hallways and the integration of smart technologies have made these elevators more convenient and customizable. While direct-entry elevators are prevalent in cities like Miami and New York, other cities such as Los Angeles and Chicago have been slower to embrace them due to complexity and expense. Luxury purchasers are willing to pay a premium for direct-entry elevator access.
