- Abstract
This article focused on the design, implementation and evaluation of an online self-training course, which allows undergraduate students to search and retrieve information from documentary databases in a virtual library. A literature review of primary information sources was conducted first to identify the research problem, form the research question and set the study purpose. Afterwards, the above-mentioned online self-training program was designed, implemented and evaluated based upon the methodology of the AddIE instructional model. The course efficacy was evaluated by compiling the responses and analyzing the perceptions of several teachers and students who took a pilot test related to the properties, characteristics and course performance. from the results of this investigation, it can be concluded that the online self-learning tool helps in the achievement of the goals and objectives set in each module of the course. furthermore, the proposed self-training course will help undergraduate students in a positive way in developing their skills for searching and retrieving information from documentary databases in a virtual library.
