Strategies put in place by Trump and other Republicans, along with institutional aspects of our country's "democracy," assure tbe Republican Party's continued, outsized controt despite Trump's failure to achieve a second term. Tbis Article reviews Trump and bis Administration's contempt for political norms, explores tbe Republican Party's bard turn to tbe right, and discusses bow tbe Republicans bave been able to bold onto power greater tban one would expect considering that it is the distinct minority part¥. Finally, tbe Article examines whether the sharp trend to tbe right might be slowed. proposing reinstituting the filibuster and formalizing tbe "blue slip" process for judicial appointments.
