- Abstract
Objective: To comprehensively evaluate the therapeutic effect of warming-needle moxibustion combined with chemotherapy in treatment of postoperative gastric cancer patients. Methods: Sixty patients with gastric cancer undergoing chemotherapy after gastrectomy hospitalized and treated in the oncology department ward of our hospital from August 2018 to August 2019 were selected as research subjects. Using an envelope randomization method, patients including the research were assigned into either control group or the experimental group, with 30 cases in each group. Patients in the control group were treated with mFOLFOX6 chemotherapy regimen. Patients in the experimental group were treated warming-needle moxibustion additionally on the basis of the control group. The changes of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) syndrome scores, scores of quality of life, incidence rate of gastrointestinal tract adverse reactions were observed before and after treatment. Results: In the experimental group, the TCM syndrome scores were 2.64 ± 0.45 points. The scores of quality of life were 55.32 ± 5.62 points. The incidence rate of gastrointestinal tract adverse reactions was 23.33%. In control group, the TCM syndrome scores were 6.36 ± 1.16 points. The scores of quality of life were 50.27 ± 6.51 points. The incidence rate of gastrointestinal adverse reactions was 46.67%. All of the scores in the experimental group were better than those in the control group. The differences were statistically significant (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Application of warming-needle moxibustion combined with chemotherapy in treatment of postoperative gastric cancer patients could stimulate recovery of gastrointestinal function significantly, increase ability of digestion and absorption, and alleviate gastrointestinal stimulating symptoms caused by the drugs. In addition, the warming-needle moxibustion could unblock the channels and invigorate blood, supplement the spleen and fortify transportation. The therapeutic method could increase quality of life in patients with gastric cancer undergoing chemotherapy after gastrectomy, the it is worthy of popularization in clinic.
