- Abstract
The article focuses on Diego Obregón, a marimba player from Colombia. It discusses his fascination in playing the marimba which started when he heard a marimba being played at the workshop of maestro Silvino Mina. It states that upon Silvino Mina's supervision and guidance, Diego Obregón learned how to play different percussion instruments related to the currulao marimba music and became a member of Mina's folk group. After several years, he used his musical expertise in order to establish a shop in Cali, Colombia as a marimba maker. It mentions that Diego continued to play marimba in Cali, Colombia for several groups including Grupo Colombia Viva, Los Bogas del Pacifico and Raíces Negras.
