- Title
AI, UPL, AND THE JUSTICE GAP: A PROFESSION AT THE CROSSROADS.
- Authors
RIEHL, DAMIEN
- Abstract
The article explores the intersection of artificial intelligence (AI), unauthorized practice of law (UPL), and access to justice (A2J). It begins by discussing the debate surrounding whether AI tools, particularly large language models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, might be engaging in UPL by providing legal information and advice. The distinction between legal information and legal advice is examined in light of the capabilities of LLMs to process and apply the law to specific facts.
