- Abstract
This article presents information related to Ariteus flavescens. Ariteus flavescens can be distinguished from other phyllostornids with prominent nose leaves by the unique twist of its nose leaf. Ariteus fiavescens is a mediurn-sized bat with relatively short, broad wings and without a noticeable tail. Ariteus fiavescens is endemic to the island of Jamaica in the Greater Antilles. The name Ariteus means warlike, pugnacious and flavescens means tending toward yellow. Ariteus flavescens occupies primary, secondary and late successional stands of forest in western Jamaica.
