- Abstract
The deep silty clay layer has the engineering characteristics of good compaction, cementation, high strength and low compressibility. Therefore, the accurate evaluation of its mechanical properties is of great significance for engineering design. The strength and deformation parameters of deep-buried silty clay layer in the site were studied by indoor high pressure consolidation test and on-site side pressure test respectively. Then, according to the test results, the compressibility, bearing capacity and other mechanical properties of deep-buried silty clay layer were analyzed and evaluated, and the results of the two test methods were compared. The results show that the natural compression modulus of silty clay layer in this site is 41. 3 ~ 47. 3 MPa,and compression coefficient is 0. 04 ~ 0. 03 MPa - 1,which indicated that silty clays are of low compressibility. The bearing capacity of foundation is 403 ~ 1 296 kPa according to the method of plastic pressure, and the bearing capacity of the foundation determined by the ultimate pressure method is 307 ~ 1 086 kPa, which can meet the requirements of pile end bearing layer in general engineering. The research results can be used in engineering to make full use of the mechanical properties of deep silty clay layer.
