- Abstract
The article reports on the priority given by U.S. President Barack Obama for key agencies in basic science and technology with his fiscal year 2011 budget request. It notes the statements by U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) administrator Charles Bolden on the agency's planned priorities with the 19 billion-dollar budget. It cites the intensified focus set by the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) on biomedical research with the boosted budget for the agency. It also presents the discussion by U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu on the agency's plan of reorganizing its efforts of addressing issues related to energy. Moreover, it tackles how the budget rise for the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) would improve their core research programs.
