- Authors
Cole, Mikel W.; David, Samuel S.; Jiménez, Robert T.
- Abstract
The article highlights a set of instructional ways that encourage teachers to leverage students' repertoires of out-of-school language and literacy practices as learning resources. It says that these ways, alternately called culturally relevant pedagogy (CRP), culturally responsive instruction, and culturally modeling represent theoretically the same endeavors to recruit the linguistic strengths and culturally familiar practices of students in order to reorient classroom instruction.
