- Abstract
Salmonellosis in cattle is caused by S. Typhimurium and S. Dublin serotypes. These two microorganisms can cause severe enteric/septicemic disease or, in the case of S. Dublin, localize in the host’s lymph nodes causing chronic infection and permanent elimination. The management of this pathology is essential to avoid signifi cant damage to the farm, the spread of Salmonella in nearby farms and the food safety of dairy products; but to date there are no specifi c control measures for cattle in European and Italian legislation in force. In this paper the protocol drawn up could be applied in farm after isolation of Salmonella in cattle’s diagnostic specimens.
