- Title
Emotion as media - out of the lab.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article explores the role that human emotions play in artistic expression and creativity. The author argues that emotion plays the role of catalyst, exactly like a medium, in the birth of artistic expressions. The author compares artistic creation to a chemical reaction in which artists use sense-data to generate the objective or material elements of an artwork and then employ their internal emotions to generate the subjective elements of an artwork. It is thus argued that artworks are emotive objects and that a spectator's reaction to an artwork is an emotional activity. Finally, the author argues that new media and digital art often suppress the emotive aspects of art.
