- Abstract
The relationship between religion and science continues to be discussed as it has been in the historical process. It is a case that the debates taken place in Christian Europe have affected the Islamic World. Islamic theologians act with the general assumption that there is no conflict between Islam and science. Especially at this point, the wasā'il field of kalam is accepted as the field in which metaphysics is supported. It is seen that there are significant scientific studies in the field of wasā'il in the modern era. One of them is Neurotheology. Neurotheology is a science that examines and explains behavior on a neural basis. Especially, it provides essential information about the neurological foundations of religiosity and its evolutionary function. In this study, the kasb theory has been evaluated with relation to the Benjamin Libet experiment in terms of Neurotheology. The kasb theory is one of the most important discussion topics of Kalam. When the results of this experiment were published, it prepared new grounds for discussion on the issue of free will, which has been discussed in the world of philosophy and science. It is known that kasb theory of Ash'arī causes serious discussions. According to the kasb theory, Allah is the absolute creator. In this case, human is not the creator of his own actions. This theory has been criticized for eliminating human freedom and responsibility. The fact that the Benjamin Libet experiment contains data consistent with the kasb theory of Ash'arī is noteworthy.
