- Abstract
Licensure has become increasingly a concern of counseling professionals. Lacking sufficient opportunities to become licensed counselors, many professionals seek licensing as psychologists. Unfortunately the information about licensing laws regulating psychologists that is so essential to informed, career decision making has been difficult to collect and is noticeably absent from the literature. This article provides current information, taken from official state codes, specifying the degree, program accreditation, experience, and supervision requirements for licensing as a psychologist in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. The crucial role played by state boards of psychological examiners in determining licensing requirements is also discussed.
