- Abstract
In cognitive radio networks (CRNs), spectrum sharing technology can quickly and effectively access the idle channel. Rendezvous is the essential operation in distributed CRNs which means that secondary users (SUs) access the same channel at the same time to establish a communication link. In order to achieve rendezvous under asynchronous condition, a channel hopping scheme has been proposed in this paper. This scheme can make pair of SUs rendezvous within a basic channel hopping sequence period. Besides, we propose a MAC protocol for rendezvous operation which has the aim of using idle channel more efficiently. An experience database is proposed to store the experienced statistics which are obtained from spectrum occupancy history. The experienced statistics can be used to support the acts of SUs. Simulation results show that the proposed MAC protocol with rendezvous scheme can get a better comprehensive performance in terms of throughput and packet delay. And the proposed rendezvous algorithm outperforms existing schemes in terms of average time-to-rendezvous and the channel Fairness_index.
