The article discusses French theologian and poet François Fénelon's relations with French Oratorian priest and rationalist philosopher Nicolas Malebranche. It discusses the personal relations between Fenelon and Malebranche; biographical elements and issues of publishing; and a common Cartesianism in the readings of the 19th century literature.
