- Title
The Rights of Light Act is 54 years old: Is it time to consider a replacement?
- Authors
McLean, Simon
- Abstract
The author reflects on the replacement of the Rights to Light Act 1959 of Great Britain and also discusses the effect of the legislation on the surveying industry. He suggests that a structure should be build to reduce the level of daylight which would be included under the act and informs that actions related to right of light are dealt through the civil courts. He also reports that the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) has advised to seek professional advice for loss of light.
