Highlights include occurrence of hypotonic hyponatremia with hypovolemia, hypervolemia or normovolemia, association of oral fluid intake with hyponatremia in children with gastroenteritis who drink excess replacement water, and an increase in urine sodium in the presence of severe hyponatremia.
